It’s been a long time

It’s been quite a while since my last visit to this platform. In fact, I almost forgot about my little corner of the internet until the yearly invoice popped up in my inbox, serving as a gentle (or maybe not-so-gentle) reminder of my long absence. Life has a way of throwing us off course, doesn’t it?

As someone living with ADHD and pathological demand avoidance (PDA), I often find myself in a tug-of-war with my own mind. I have the desire to create, share, and engage, but my brain sometimes feels like it’s caught in a fog, holding me back from doing the very things I yearn to accomplish. It’s a challenging reality that many of you may relate to.

I’ve also been hesitant to return to this space, especially because I know the term “differability” can be met with mixed reactions. Some feel it diminishes the reality of disability, and I completely understand why. I want to make it clear: I am not rejecting the concept of disability. Life can indeed be tremendously disabling, and I can only speak about my own lived experience here.

This venture has always been about celebrating the quirks and challenges of neurodifferences, recognising that it comes in all shapes and sizes. We each have our unique “spiky profiles” of magnificence and challenge that define our individual experiences. Those spikes can be daunting, but they also represent our strengths and the incredible ways we see the world.

So, here I am, ready to reconnect here again and see if I can make use of this site once again! My goal is to explore the intricacies of executive functioning and how it impacts my daily life. Executive functioning has been a significant hurdle for me, often leading to avoidance and procrastination. But I’m committed to breaking through that wall and developing strategies that work for me.

In the coming year, I intend to share my journey, insights, and perhaps even some practical tips that I discover along the way. Whether it’s tackling tasks that seem insurmountable or finding new ways to organise my thoughts, I hope to create a space where we can learn and grow together.

let’s see if I can rise to this challenge!!!
